Joshua Breazeale

Executive Director

Joshua and his spouse Jessica have lived in Greenville since 2010. Their three children are students at JH Rose High School and EB Aycock Middle School. Joshua became the Executive Director for Parents for Public Schools of Pitt County in November 2022. Prior to working in that role he worked as a Teaching Assistant at South Greenville Elementary School for a year and a half and as a Minister of Education and Children at a local congregation for 12 years. In addition to his work with PPSPC Joshua works with Greenville Little League Baseball as the Public Address Announcer and Scorekeeper at Stallings Stadium at Elm Street Park. Joshua and his family enjoy traveling including annual trips to the beach and cheering for the UNC Tar Heels.

Joshua’s first connection with PPS-PC was as a Community Conversation participant in the spring of 2022. He is a graduate of the PEP program as a participant during the 2022-2023 cohort. Public schools have always been a part of Joshua’s life as a public school student as well as several family members in multiple generations working as public school educators. In his role with PPSPC Joshua is able to continue to support and promote the importance of public education and to continue the work to secure a high quality public education for each child. With all of the challenges facing public education nationally and in particular in North Carolina, public school advocates are more important now than ever before.

Veronica Ramirez-Chance

Born and raised in New Jersey, she relocated to North Carolina in 2019.

She began serving as a board member in 2023. Her connection with PPS-PC was completing the PEP (Parent Engagement Program) to get a better understanding of Pitt County Schools. Her interests and hobbies are simple, God, Family, and Special Needs Advocate – she stays involved in her church, loves spending time with her family, and tries her best to advocate for those in the special needs community.

Her goals are always trying to make a difference in her community while building bridges where needed.

When asked what she thought was the biggest challenge facing public education: “Public schools have the potential to be the greatest institutions if they are led by people that have a heart for inclusiveness, equity, diversity, and command change. I think the biggest challenge is people giving up hope on the idea that public schools have the potential of being great schools. PPS-PC is working everyday to meet their vision statement, to engage parents, families, students, and schools to work together for the greater good of public schools and the reason why I serve as a Board Member.”

John Carrere

John has served on the PPS-PC Board of Directors since 2021.

He currently serves as the Director for the Office of Recruitment and First-Year Experience at Pitt Community College. Before becoming a board member, John’s association with the PPS-PC included meeting with new families moving to the area and providing on-campus experiences at PCC for the Parent Engagement Program series. John lives with his family in the Eastern Pines area, where his daughter and son attend Hope Middle School and Wintergreen Intermediate, respectively. In their free time, his family enjoys vacationing at the beach and participating in Pitt County youth athletics. John’s passion for serving on the PPS-PC board stems from his willingness to advocate for the children of Pitt County and to strengthen the support for public teachers and administrators to deliver quality educational opportunities for students.
